Debate Heats up over Arizona Immigration Law SB 1070
July 16, 2010![]() |
Governor Brewer argues that Washington's failure to enforce existing immigration laws has forced Arizona's hand: “With a federal government unwilling to secure our border for years, Arizona was left with little choice. A nation without borders is like a house without walls.”
Governor Richardson refutes this stance, arguing that SB 1070 is not only legally indefensible, but just bad policy: “Immigration and control of our international borders are federal issues for a reason. It is in America’s national interest to have a uniform approach to an issue that affects foreign policy and national security.”
